QA Manager - Bellshill, Scotland

As Quality Manager you will be based from our Bellshill office in central Scotland, with frequent travel to our site in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Birmingham and Antwerp, Belgium. Reporting directly to the business Managing Director, you will provide Quality support to the Sales Team, Project Managers and group employees.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the business and group in driving the Quality Management System including plans, procedures, guides, templates, and training materials.
  • Provide guidance and review/comment on the preparation of execution deliverables such as Quality Plans, Method Statements, Inspection and test Plans, Work Procedures, Material Approval Forms etc.
  • Represent SPS regulatory interventions relating to Quality in coordination with Client representatives.
  • Provide guidance and support on quality deviations such as Non Conformance Reports and also Request for Information and Field Change Requests. Review Non-Conformance
  • Reports and provides feedback on the adequacy of corrective actions and suitability of proposed actions to prevent reoccurrence and to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in risk management, lessons learned, deviation analysis, and identifying Quality Related Activities.
  • Complete statistical analysis on identified deviations from both Contractor and Client to understand areas of risk, and opportunities for improvement to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Feedback and provide regular reports to inform on Quality performance. Facilitate learning and improvement through Root Cause Analysis/Collective Insight Workshops.
  • Collaborate with the Client team and their designers to facilitate agreement of quality and surveillance processes and promote acceptance of SPS and supplier-generated documentation.
  • Promote the various management policies, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Represent Quality in various site meetings, internally, with suppliers and/or with the Client.
  • Oversee surveillance of work activities to monitor that they are being carried out in the approved manner and that quality requirements are being consistently achieved.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, guidance, and training staff to reinforce the Safety Culture the Client and SPS are promoting on any given project.
  • Manage, monitor, and support the document control function under your area ensuring sufficient time and task management.
  • Support the procurement process as a Quality stakeholder through the Tender process.
  • Conduct Prequalification assessments, Contract reviews, and ongoing Quality support following award and establishment of Quality arrangements (Quality Plan, ITPs etc).
  • Complete UK and Export site visits to oversee the quality of works and support Quality engagement at all levels of the organization.
  • Intervene when the Quality of work is at risk or has been affected and escalate to Senior Management as appropriate. Support application of the Project Quality Commitments and Values.
  • Driving a cultural change to inspire our team to understand the need for continuous improvements in QA.
  • Preparing and monitoring our employee engagement profile, to drive business improvements.
  • Be the go-to person, responsible for our ISO9001/ ISO14001/ 45001.
  • Be an ambassador for SPS and the overall BM Steel Group.

 

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Previous experience in steel, oil and gas, shipbuilding, renewable energy or manufacturing.
  • ISO 9001:2015 IRCA Internal or Lead Auditor trained (or willingness to undergo training).
  • Good experience with ISO 9001:2015, and in reviewing and generating key Quality documents such as Inspection and Test Plans, Quality Plans and Life Time Records.
  • Knowledge and understanding of steel/ steel grades/ specifications/ steel stockholding/ engineering terminology along with material testing/ NDT procedures.
  • An ability to communicate at all levels is essential as you will be responsible for attending meetings and facilitating and presenting on quality matters, to project teams, suppliers, and Client organisations.
  • A high level of organisation and the ability to multi-task is essential as you will have the responsibility for planning and completing many tasks simultaneously and coordinating a small team of Quality staff.
  • Computer literacy to include Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office packages.

Sales Executive/Business Development Executive - Aberdeen, Scotland

Due to site upgrades, overhaul and redevelopment, including major investment in new product lines and our increased stockholding capacity in Aberdeen since our acquisition by Marubeni Itochu Steel in October 2022, we are looking for a superstar to join our sales team!

As a part of the team in Aberdeen, you will excel at creating and closing new opportunities in a steel sales environment. By using a consultative approach to selling, you will use your expertise to identify and qualify leads, leading to sales opportunities with both new and existing customers. On this occasion we are only looking for exceptional talent with technical/ steel sales experience; selling to and targeting Oil & Gas, Offshore Engineering, Power-Gen, Defense and Renewable Energy industries.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed agreed sales targets.
  • Business development within a defined sales territory.
  • Understand our product range and services to promote them in the best possible way.
  • Successfully create business from new and existing customer accounts.
  • Consider and report new business ventures, ideas and opportunities suited to our business.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5 years' quota carrying sales experience.
  • Minimum 2 Years of Steel Sales experience (this is mandatory).
  • Experience and working knowledge of CRM systems.
  • Demonstrable track record of over-achieving quota, in a steel sales environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good understanding of sales process lifeline.
  • Workable knowledge of steel grades, qualities and applications.
  • Technical mindset to value product applications to offer products, services and alternatives.
