Specifications

SPS carries a standard range of high-yield structural tubes in these specifications. Supplied with a yield range between 50Ksi - 100Ksi, low-temperature impact tested to –20°C, -40°C and -50°C. All material is fully certified to EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 as required. Additional testing services (NAMAS-approved test house). Available in random and double-random lengths.

Welded tubulars are available as required up to 196” - 5000mm O/D and up to 200mm thick. Supplied in lengths up to 12m without circwelds and multiple lengths with circwelds up to 120m.

We supply ultra-long length tubulars up to 120m long for applications including complete jacket leg sections, jack-up legs and racks, jacking piles, and other piling applications.

These can be supplied with ancillary fabricated steelwork including crows nests, cradles, lifting lugs, and other fabricated additions to the customer's full specification, design, and drawings.

These ultra-long length tubulars are produced in specifications as required and are shipped worldwide. All the particular and special logistics of shipping such long lengths are dealt with including special lift vessels to ensure correct handling at the port of loading and destination.

What are the key features of S.A.W submerged arc weld tubulars?

Submerged arc weld tubulars have a number of key features that make them indispensable for a wide range of applications. These features include high-strength construction with tubular welding, cost-effective and efficient manufacturing, and corrosion resistance and durability.

High-strength welded construction

S.A.W. tubulars are manufactured using a high-precision welding process that ensures a robust and uniform weld. The method of welding tubular steel enhances its structural integrity, allowing tubulars to withstand high-pressure environments and heavy loads. This makes them ideal for bridges, offshore platforms, pipelines, and other demanding applications.

Cost-effective & efficient construction

The submerged arc welding process is highly efficient, allowing for the fast production of steel tubulars with wide diameters and thick walls. The efficiency of tubular welding translates into cost savings without reductions in quality. The ability to produce long lengths with minimal defects also reduces material wastage and further enhances cost-effectiveness.

Corrosion resistance & durability

S.A.W. tubulars are available in various coatings and protective treatments to enhance their resistance to corrosion and make them suitable for harsh environments. Whether exposed to marine conditions, chemical processing, or underground installations, components made by welding tubular steel offer long-term durability and reliability.

Compliance & standards

Ensuring compliance with the strictest industry standards is crucial in the manufacturing and supply of S.A.W. submerged arc weld tubulars. At SPS, our tubular welding products adhere to international regulations, guaranteeing safety, quality, and environmental responsibility. Some of the standards our S.A.W. tubulars comply with include:

  • API 5L: These standards apply to pipeline transportation systems.
  • ASTM A252: Specifications for welded and seamless steel pipe piles.
  • EN 10219: These are technical delivery conditions for cold-formed welded structural hollow sections.
  • ISO 9001: This quality management system ensures consistent product quality and customer satisfaction.

What are the applications of S.A.W submerged arc weld tubulars?

S.A.W. tubulars are widely used across numerous industries due to their versatility, strength, and durability. Some of the most common applications include:

  • Oil & gas pipelines: Steel products made with tubular welding are used for transporting crude oil, natural gas, and petroleum products over long distances.
  • Construction & infrastructure: Submerged arc weld tubulars are essential for bridge construction, building frameworks, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Offshore & marine structures: S.A.W. tubulars are suitable for offshore platforms, subsea applications, and wind turbine foundations.
  • Piling & foundation works: Steel tubulars provide structural support in deep foundations for bridges, buildings, and ports.
  • Water & sewage systems: These products are used for transporting water and waste in municipal and industrial projects.

What are the different grades of S.A.W submerged arc weld tubulars?

S.A.W. tubulars are available in a variety of grades to suit different performance requirements. Some of the common grades include:

  • API 5L Grades B, X42, X52, X60, and X70: These grades are used in pipeline transportation with varying strength levels.
  • ASTM A252 Grades 1, 2, and 3: Steel pipe grades for structural applications.
  • EN 10219 S235, S275, and S355: These are structural steel grades for hollow sections.
  • Custom specifications: Designed to meet project-specific requirements, tubular welding products are available on request.
